Proclaim and Praise: A Lenten Journey for Abiding in Christ

The Broken
When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave
thanks, broke it, and began to give it to them. Then their
eyes were opened, and they recognized him, and he
disappeared from their sight.
Luke 24:30-31

esus took the bread, blessed it, and then broke it. The
travelers thought to themselves, That looks familiar.
Wait a minute; I9ve seen this before. They looked at each
other as He gave the bread to them, and when they
recognized those hands that had broken and blessed, those
hands that had been nailed, those hands, they thought, Those
are4well, we know who this is. This is not a stranger. This is
the one that hung on the cross! He got up, and now he is at
our house. They could not eat. After Jesus suddenly
vanished, they said to each other, didn9t our hearts burn within
as He talked with us along the way?
That is what this post-resurrection event reminds us4that
the same God on the other side of resurrection who took us,
blessed us, broke us, and gave us away now in resurrection
will come into our lives and use them if we just give them to
Him. When He comes into our lives, He will bless them, but
we must always realize that breaking precedes blessing. For
