A Banner for Jesus9 Row
May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our
banners in the name of our God.
Psalm 20:5

ave you ever been to a basketball game where the
fans hold up banners and signs supporting their
favorite player? The crowd erupts in cheers, waving
their signs high to show their loyalty and support. Many years
ago, my buddy got me court-side tickets to the Spurs-Knicks
basketball game. I sat next to Tim Duncan's uncle, who was
visually impaired and listening to the game on the radio. They
had a banner saying, "Go, Tim Duncan!" Now, those of you
who know me understand that one thing I do not like to do is
hold up a banner. But a consulate from the Virgin Islands
enthusiastically asked me to lift it up with him. Because I was
on the Duncan row, I was required to hold it up.
That is what the people did for Jesus during the Triumphal
Entry: they waved palm branches, shouted praises, and made
it clear which side they were on.
